Safeguarding/ Child Welfare/ SEN

As a DBS-checked tutor with thousands of hours of experience, I have helped many students who require extra support in order to meet their potential. Whether due to neuro-diversity, student bullying, mental health issues, or personal tragedy or trauma, students often times need a caring, thoughtful, and kind approach to their learning. Rather than neglectful school or institutions, I can provide a personal and accountable way to allow children to see the joy in learning.

"In all of my experiences educating, consulting, and mentoring students, I have learned that I have a love of learning, a desire for cognition, and a need to connect. Desire for cognition means I am happiest in the Mihaly Csikzentmihaly's "flow" state. That means that whether I am helping a student understand Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, exploring series for the 11+, or talking about Amartya Sen's Capability Theory in politics, I need to be challenging my mental ability. It also means that it is less about the subject and more about engaging my mind and students on day to day basis.

During the stress of getting students into Russell Group universities, including Imperial College London or Ivy League schools in the US including Dartmouth, or even prestigious private schools like Beneden School or St Paul Girls, I like to impart some of my passion for challenging one's mind in all contexts and in whatever interest a student has. As part of my ability to adapt my learning style to individual students, I encourage conversations on anything from a student's day, to their concerns with school, their hobbies, or climate change. These allow extremely organised lessons to be more impactful, enjoyable, engaging. It also helps to keep education in context to life and it is something that my SEN students and learners have appreciated.

Often neglected, many students struggle at school because of the stresses that comes with those institutions. I can often reach out and guide students as they emotionally tackle their days.

Please reach out if you would like to hear more how I can help you or your child."
